Growing up in a rural Alberta, I quickly became aware of how much our family's lifestyle was dependent upon the land--- the deep rich soil, the warm sunny days, the lush verdant grass and the soft gentle rains. Once I began my artistic journey I have found that I gravitated towards portraying images of the land, especially the trees found in Alberta and elsewhere. In my childhood woodland walks, I found tremendous serenity and solace as I listened to the wind softly brushing the leaves. Even to this day, if I am feeling stressed, I need to only take a short walk to restore emotional balance.
